Our Financial Philosophy: where does your money go?
Sri Lankan Aid is driven by a grassroots approach to rebuilding Sri Lanka's devastated regions. To achieve this, we strive to connect donor dollars with urgent projects on the ground as directly as possible. A small group, our projects are directed and implemented by committed volunteers, who absorb significant costs in order to realize our projects in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lankan Aid's direct approach to aid has facilitated grassroots connections between communities and individuals in North America and in Sri Lanka. Our local contacts help us seek out the most pressing needs in the communities we work in, allowing us to channel donor dollars directly to locally-relevant projects. The dedication of our volunteer staff keeps overhead costs to a bare minimum - at all times less than ten percent of donated funds, and in practice often much lower.
Given our close contact with communities, we thank our donors for understanding the importance of flexibility in responding to needs as they arise. While we encourage donations in response to specific initiatives or fund-raising drives, we will ultimately allocate our budget to acheive the greatest impact.
THANK YOU for your support: our acheivements are your acheivements!
