Classroom Furniture Distribution
What: Distribution of desks, tables, and chairs to refugee schools
Where: Batticaloa District
Why: With refugees pouring into overcrowded schools throughout the Eastern Province due to intense fighting, many schools did not have adequate equipment and supplies to accept new students. Also, as different military groups reclaimed areas, school furniture was looted for outposts and firewood. To help the schools recover and allow students to return to a productive learning environment, we saw to the distribution of classroom furniture to schools throughout the east.
